My comments on blogs:
James Frankel is a renowned professor and teacher in America in the areas of music technology, musical instruments and music composition. He is well known for giving seminars around the states and has organised a variety of online education courses in the areas of music technology such using music programs.
He has recently been incorporating his musical knowledge with music technology for primary school students in an attempt to interest children in music production from a young age.
He has recently been elected to be the president of the Association for Technology in Music Intsruction or ATMI. This is a renowned and prestigous place to be given and is made up of the most well known and respected professors across the United States and Canada who focus on the effective integration of music technology in music instruction, ATMI membership is a veritable Who’s Who in the field of music technology.
The thing that I liked about James Frankel is that he explores different methods and ideas in the field of music technology. Also he is a very helpfull and usefull resource for amateur music editors and composers like myself and supplies a rich wealth of knowledge in these areas.
My favourite post would have to be his sound tree articles which keep us updated about new technology, new music tutorials and generally what is happening in the music world. The blog was updated every five or six days and contains a variety of links to other blogs and websites ranging from jazz instruction to the Propellor Heads and Reason. There are also plenty of videos, opinions music reviews and articles.
His target audience encompasses a wide variety of people ranging from his fellow professors to students like me to people with any general interest in music in any of it's forms.
Frankel uses quite a straight up, correct and formal language for his audience which I guess must be for the wide variety of people who read it.
He writes with an upbeat manner yet does not specifically incorporate any humour into the text.
The layout of the blog is simple and straight forward which is useful for ease of reading. He generally tries to brighten up the text with the image of some new music book or with cover of his SoundWaves post. This combined makes it all easier to read and keeps it more interesting.
