Chosen post: 'Audience' - http://new-art.blogspot.com/2009/10/its-all-about-you.html

I have been following three digital media blogs with their mainly focus on digital art. Although, the one I found mostly interesting and which gave me a big insight of the world of digital art is http://new-art.blogspot.com/. It’s created by VV01, a guy who lives in Warsaw, Poland. In his profile it’s says that he works with art and he also tells the reader about his interests etc. He has been on blogger.com since 2005 and he has about 19 000 profile views so far. His main categories are digital art, music, design, photo and painting. His visual presentations are mostly as photographs, digital and non digital art and music videos and painted images. This graphics are combined with text descriptions. He writes about well-known artiest such as painters and digital media creators and he publish posts about their latest projects and videos etc. But he also seems to be very interested in to lift up unknown people that have created digital pieces.

In his posts, VV01 ask questions to his readers and I assume it’s because he wants to start discussion threads. His use of language in his posts is often on a philosophical level, sometimes they actually can be mistaken for poems, I have also noticed that the readers comment in the same philosophical way. But he does not only publish videos or pictures that he is just impressed of, he also often have a critical discussion about the subject, what it does for the audience and sometimes he compares the present time with the historical days.

It seems like VV01 posts pictures and videos regularly about 2-4 times a week. Although, sometimes he publish many posts on the same day and then he wait a couple of days to post something. Overall, most of the people who are making comments about his posts are people who seem to be very interested in exploring the art world. They are people who have a lot of opinions, tell their views and frequently ask questions to VV01. I have a feeling that these people have a strong passion for art and digital art and they highly appreciate that VV01 posts original videos and pictures of today’s newsfeed of (digital) art and music. The majority have their own blogs linked to their comments.

One of my favorite posts about digital media was published the 7th of October. It’s a video showing a digital installation. The objects change and move their heads to give different characteristics of human behavior Comparing to VV01’s other posts this one hasn’t any description, although he posted a link to one. But I find the video itself extremely interesting because truthfully I haven’t seen anything like it before. It is named ‘Audience’ and was conceived by rAndom International. The use of this digital technology is, to me, a very original concept. It combines digital - and visual art with technological media. I posted a comment about this and asked VV01 if he has seen it for himself. He answered me; “Unfortunately it's yet another case of virtual hearsay...It's quite curious, though, how the things we read about/see videos of have this ambiguous ontological status - they are quasi-real”.
