Chosen Blog (MediaShift - Your guide to the Digital Media Revolution)
Chosen Post (Record Labels are Losing Power to Fans, Artists http://www.pbs.org/mediashift/2009/10/record-labels-are-losing-power-to-fans-artists282.html)

Over the past few weeks I have been following various digital media blogs. My goal from the get go was to find a blog which really interests me and one which I would enjoy following long after this college assignment was submitted.

Mark Glaser is a longtime freelance journalist whose career includes columns on hip-hop, reviews of videogames, travel stories, and humor columns that poked fun at the titans of technology. (MediaShift 2009)
He is also the host of the digital media blog I am focusing on in this article.

MediaShift is a fascinating blog with content from a number of different bloggers for example Simon Owens, Steven Davy, Susan Currie Sivek and of course Jason Feinberg who authored my most-liked post “record Lables are Losing power to Fans, Artists)

The post is a follow on piece to “What will record labels look like in the future” and it discusses issues in the music industry such as Digital sales verses physical sales and the revenue being lost. “Sales of digital music have not come close to replacing the revenue lost from the decline of physical sales.” (Feinberg 2009)

The blog also gives information from Paul Resnikoff, founder and publisher of music industry news site Digital Music News who gives valuable feedback from the industry as well as Fanscape CEO Larry Weintraub is an industry veteran with 25 years of marketing experience and the Artists perspective from guitarist Steve Vai.

I really liked this blog as the whole record label and digital music downloads debacle has been a subject that has interested me greatly for quite a while. To be honest the fact that this blog also included the opinions of the musical genius that is Steve Vai made this post a clear winner in my eyes.
